My Bucket List: Day 5

DO AWAY WITH SIN!

The Bible says that all have sinned and fallen short of the glory of God.  The Bible also says that the penalty for sin is death.  And it is obvious to see that sin is running rampant in our world.  It doesn't take a rocket scientist to recognize that the times we live in are dark, sinful, and broken.

As a father of 3 kids I am looking to the future and asking the Lord for help!  My prayer is that God will help me prepare my kids for the world that they will soon enter.  A few things they need to know are:

1.  How do I avoid temptations?
2.  What do I do if I sin?
3.  What are the consequences of my sin?
4.  How can the Holy Spirit help me through tough times?
5.  What is waiting for me when I die?

The point is that we MUST be ready!  We must have a game plan!  The world seems to just hope they fall into heaven by earning it through good deeds....but it isn't enough!  We cant be so prideful as to think that our own deeds can buy us a place in the presence of a HUGE & HOLY GOD!  Here are a few scripture verses that will help you with the 5 questions listed above.  If you have anymore verses to add, attach them as a comment below!  God bless you and may you come to the Lord as quickly as possible if you are trapped in sin and need Help!  If you need prayer and help, don't hesitate to ask!  We are here for you!

1 Corinthians 10:12-1312 So, if you think you are standing firm, be careful that you don’t fall! 13 No temptation has overtaken you except what is common to mankind. And God is faithful; he will not let you be tempted beyond what you can bear. But when you are tempted, he will also provide a way out so that you can endure it.

2 Peter 1:3-113 His divine power has given us everything we need for a godly life through our knowledge of him who called us by his own glory and goodness. 4 Through these he has given us his very great and precious promises, so that through them you may participate in the divine nature, having escaped the corruption in the world caused by evil desires.

5 For this very reason, make every effort to add to your faith goodness; and to goodness, knowledge; 6 and to knowledge, self-control; and to self-control, perseverance; and to perseverance, godliness; 7 and to godliness, mutual affection; and to mutual affection, love. 8 For if you possess these qualities in increasing measure, they will keep you from being ineffective and unproductive in your knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ. 9 But whoever does not have them is nearsighted and blind, forgetting that they have been cleansed from their past sins.

10 Therefore, my brothers and sisters, make every effort to confirm your calling and election. For if you do these things, you will never stumble, 11 and you will receive a rich welcome into the eternal kingdom of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.

James 4:7-10
7 Submit yourselves, then, to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you. 8 Come near to God and he will come near to you. Wash your hands, you sinners, and purify your hearts, you double-minded. 9 Grieve, mourn and wail. Change your laughter to mourning and your joy to gloom.  10 Humble yourselves before the Lord, and he will lift you up.

Romans 8:33-35
33 Who will bring any charge against those whom God has chosen? It is God who justifies. 34 Who then is the one who condemns? No one. Christ Jesus who died—more than that, who was raised to life—is at the right hand of God and is also interceding for us. 35 Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? Shall trouble or hardship or persecution or famine or nakedness or danger or sword?

1 John 2:1
My little children, I am writing these things to you so that you may not sin. But if anyone does sin, we have an advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ the righteous.
