2 Corinthians 1:3-5New International Version (NIV)

Praise to the God of All Comfort
3 Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of compassion and the God of all comfort, 4 who comforts us in all our troubles, so that we can comfort those in any trouble with the comfort we ourselves receive from God. 5 For just as we share abundantly in the sufferings of Christ, so also our comfort abounds through Christ.

Even the comfort we receive is to comfort others!

And we[b] boast in the hope of the glory of God. 3 Not only so, but we[c] also glory in our sufferings, because we know that suffering produces perseverance; 4 perseverance, character; and character, hope. Romans 5:2-4

Jesus Heals a Man Born Blind. 9 As he went along, he saw a man blind from birth. His disciples asked him, “Rabbi, who sinned, this man or his parents, that he was born blind?” “Neither this man nor his parents sinned,” said Jesus, “but this happened so that the works of God might be displayed in him. John 9:2

Growth in you: 1 Thes. 1:3
We ought always to thank God for you, brothers and sisters, and rightly so, because your faith is growing more and more, and the love all of you have for one another is increasing.
I am pretty independent, after loosing my job to an unexpected layoff, I have had to rely on others to help me. It has been a growth process for me. GOD has been there every step of the way! PRAISE HIM for your CHALLANGES!

To Glorify God/Daniel 3: 13-28 - Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego were thrown into the furnace because they would not turn away from or negate their Faith in God by bowing to idols as ordered by Nebuchadnezzar. God sent an angel to protect them and Nebuchadnezzar believed in the power of God and encouraged it from that day forward.
Growth in Christ and Comfort of Others/Ruth 1-3/Naomi and Ruth both lost their husbands and were able to comfort each other even in their grief; through Naomi, Ruth came to believe in God although she began as a Moabitess who believed in idols. Ruth is the one that God used to begin the lineage of David and eventually Jesus.
Natural and Supernatural consequences of Sin/Genesis 3:8-12;14-24/ Adam and Eve sinned by disobeying God in the Garden of Eden. God ruled that they be banned from the Garden and required to live life in pain, sorrow and hard work. (Adam, Eve and all their descendents) Because He loves us so, God allows grace and forgiveness to flow down to us so that we can repent, be redeemed and allowed to strive toward spiritual growth to be more like Jesus. We then can choose not to perish in the darkness that began so long ago.

Ok, here goes. Gods glory was seen in the wonders and powers of His mighty hand in the form of trials in Deut. 7:19. The early christians were subject to various trials, so that the proof of your faith...tested by fire...praises God. 1 Peter 1:5-7. Our Growth in Christ. James 1:2-4 trials produce endurance so we might be perfect, complete, and lacking nothing. Bad things happen to comfort others can be seen in Josephs life Gen. 37:1- all his trials led God to use him to save his family from starvation along with his country. Consequences both supernatural and natural can be seen throughout all the Bible but a few are Gen. 19:13-24 The result of Sodom , as well as the Prodigal son had everything, lost everything because of foolish choices which caused him to return to the Father. Rom 6:23 the wages of sin is death. There is so much in the Word that can be applied to all of these ideas and never enough time to dig into all of them. At the end of it all we can rejoice that God our Father is in control. That He desires us to grow in the "bad things" become stronger in our faith and love others in the process. All things work together for good to those who love the Lord and are called according to His purpose. Love Him, search for Him and you will find Him. He is lovingly waiting for our return. There is so much rest in His hands!
